1. INTRODUCTION
Hello friends i am Dy SP Shahid Eqwal BPSC 60-62 and BPSC 63 batch qualified candidate and i secured Rank 39 in BPSC 63 batch. In this article i am going to brief you about preparation strategy of current affairs in BPSC Pre and BPSC Mains exam. Current affairs play an important role in all three stages of examination viz; Pre, Mains and Interview. So let us discuss every aspects of current affairs preparation strategy in following paragraphs.
When we go through the syllabus of BPSC Combined competitive examination, we observe that current affairs has been included in both stages i.e Pre and Mains stage of examination. On previewing previous year preliminary examination question, we reach to the conclusion that almost 30 to 35 current affair based questions are asked out of 150 multiple choice questions. These include current affairs of national, international and state specific (Bihar) importance.
Current events of national and international importance is part of General Studies Paper-1 in BPSC Mains Exam. On previewing previous year question of BPSC mains General Studies paper-1, we reach to the conclusion that 5 questions are being asked from current affairs, out of which a candidate is supposed to reply the answer of 3 questions. 3. SOURCE OF PREPARATION
Plenty of sources are available in the market for preparation of current affairs for BPSC Pre and Mains Examination. Some BPSC aspirants are dependent on Monthly Magazines of various national publishing houses. These magazines include Vision IAS monthly booklet, Dristi, Civil Services Chronicle, Ghatna Chakra and Pratiyogita Darpan etc. Some aspirants also follow News Portals, various dedicated YouTube channels for current affairs, Rajya Sabha TV , educational websites and Newspapers.
4. MY RECOMMENDATIONS
The most important point in preparing current affairs for BPSC Pre and Mains exam is dependency on single source i.e using a single source thoroughly for preparing current affairs. Avoid using multiple sources for preparation of current affairs. In this regard i would like to suggest you to choose only one monthly magazine and revise that magazine several times. During course of my preparation for BPSC Exam i used to follow the one and only one magazine and that was CIVIL SERVICES CHRONICLE. This magazine covers almost every aspect of current affairs preparation in detail for Pre and for Mains examination. Above named magazine is available in both languages i.e in Hindi and in English.
5. HOW TO READ CIVIL SERVICES CHRONICLE MAGAZINE FOR BPSC PRE AND FOR BPSC MAINS EXAM
In my opinion preparation of notes for current affairs is not required for BPSC Pre exam. Just underline important facts while reading magazine and revise those underlined facts regularly. For BPSC Mains Exam choose 2-3 important topics out of your monthly magazime and prepare short notes based on them. If you practice this regularly then in 6 months time duration you will have around 20 topics for current affairs. It is most probably that questions will be asked based on those topics. Below is the video demonstration as how to read Civil Services Chronicle Magazine.
6.TIME SPAN FOR CURRENT AFFAIRS
Most of the aspirants have a very common doubt about time span of monthly current affairs preparation. In my opinion you must be well aware of all current affair events of last one year time duration.
7. CONCLUSION
Current Affair is core of BPSC exam preparation. This topic not only play an important role to solve current affair questions but also enhance answer quality of other GS topics. I hope i have clarified every aspect of current affairs preparation in respect of bpsc exam. Comments are welcome to make this article more user friendly. Thanks for reading. Regards.
