MOTIVATION FOR EXAM | MOTIVATION FOR STUDENTS

INTRODUCTION

Hello friends i am Dy SP Shahid Eqwal BPSC 60-62 Batch and BPSC 63 Batch qualified candidate. I secured Rank 39 in BPSC 63 Batch. I strongly feel that education must be free and fair for everybody and reach beyond social barriers. The most basic idea about creating this website is to disseminate my assumptions for free education. This article is slightly different from rest of my articles published so far on my website. I have now decided to post series of some articles to motivate you all and keep your morals high.

One of the most important factor that helps you keep pace in this tiresome exam preparation is motivation. If you are a civil services aspirant preparing for 65th BPSC mains and 66th BPSC pre then your preparation should be in full swing by now. You must be feeling enthused about cracking BPSC and would be leaving no stone unturned in your efforts to see your name in the final list. You must be relentlessly writing mock test, doing continuous revisions and putting in hours of extended study.

A successful candidate is one who not only puts in hours of study but also knows how to keep the motivation high throughout the journey to keep consistency in preparation. But is your energy waning away because of bulky books and peoples expectation even before taking the exam? Then here is few motivation tips that will help you keep right mindset in the times of demotivation.

ASK YOURSELF WHY YOU STARTED THIS JOURNEY?

The first question that you should ask yourself is ' why i want to clear BPSC'. The answer should be the motivation in itself. May be its your parents dream, or you want to prove your credibility to those who always underestimated you, or any personal reasons, or you want to bring changes in the system and want to work for the people. So always remember why you started this journey.

YOUR SACRIFICE WILL TURN YOUR DREAM INTO REALITY

Many of you must have left well paying jobs in MNCs or other sectors. It requires a lot of courage to leave a well paid job to pursue your only dream. Remember why you are putting in hours of hard work day in and day out and not having any social life. Remember why you have compromised your personal life only for one thing. YOUR DREAM IS BIGGEST OF ALL COMFORTS.

MOTIVATION SHOULD COME FROM WITHIN

Always searching for motivation from external source should be secondary. You should be your self motivator. At the end of the day after hours of study when you feel exhausted, push yourself to study for one more hour, push yourself to edge. Do not procrastinate  as procrastination will lead you no where.

WHEN BULKY SYLLABUS SCARES YOU

Never say "i can't do it because syllabus is too bulky" or "I want to quit ". The way you perceive syllabus is same as tough and bulky as for other aspirants. Even the successful candidates had to face the same. Don't quit. Be smart and apply smart approach. Break syllabus into small chunks and topics, prepare targets to achieve them on daily basis. A planned approach is all that is needed.

REWARD YOURSELF WHEN YOU ACHIEVE A TARGET

Keep rewarding yourself when you achieve small goals and targets. Like you can watching a movie and bunk out with friends etc. It will help to keep you in light mood and keep stress away.

BOREDOM KILLS YOUR MOTIVATION

Understand what topics bore you and try learning those parts by a different method. Be creative while dealing with these topics.Try to interlink the topics. Refer maps whenever you learn a new place. Try teaching these subjects to an audience.

FOCUS ON YOUR STRENGTH

Many times during the course of your civil services preparation, you will feel that you are not up to it. The BPSC exam study can take a year or more, and it is natural to feel a little low at times. At these times, remind yourself of your strengths. If you are good in history but week in geography, tell yourself – ‘I am good in history. I can deal with geography too.’

RECORD YOUR PROGRESS

Regularly record your progress. Whenever you feel down just go through your progress report. It will remind you of how much hard work you have put in and will boost your confidence.

HANDLE OBSTACLES EFFICIENTLY

There is no exam you can qualify without hurdles. Hurdles may be on personal front, poor finances, no conducive environment for study, or any bad habit etc. So identify these hurdles and deal with it as soon as possible.

RIGHT ENVIRONMENT

Preparing for the BPSC exams would mean sitting for long hours in your study room. Ensure that your room is peppy and clean. Having the right ‘mood’ to study goes a long way in maintaining motivation. Have proper lighting and comfortable seating. Have a picture of your icon or an inspirational saying on the wall or study table.

BE HEALTHY

You can’t be motivated unless you are healthy. Have a healthy diet and regular exercise to be fit and fine. If you fall ill it may take weeks to resume your preparation. And one cannot afford to go without preparation for a week especially when the exam is closer.

CONSIDER YOURSELF AS ALREADY A QUALIFIED CANDIDATE

Visualizing yourself as a selected candidate will help you boost your confidence whenever you feel low. Consider yourself no less than others.

AVOID NEGATIVITY

Avoid any negative people – people who constantly put you down or those who doubt you. Stay away from those who discourage you. Be with like minded people who will help to achieve your goal.

GET INSPIRATION FORM OTHER SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES

Always try to be in touch with successful candidates. Go through the toppers talk and read toppers success story.  Watch a motivational video even if only for ten minutes. But always try to keep yourself motivated so that you are always abreast of others in this competition.

  6. In other words my ideal Dr. Abdul kalam says that if you fail, never give up because FAIL means First attempt in learning. END is not the end infact END means Effort never dies. If you get NO as an answer remember NO means Next Opportunity. So I will be positive. 65 mains will be personal challenge from myself.
