  • Should i prepare notes point wise?
  • How to prepare good notes?

These are some of the most common doubts being raised by bpsc aspirants. In the next paragraph, i am going to discuss each doubt step by step.

3.1 PREPARATION OF NOTES FOR BPSC PRE EXAMINATION

Pre exam is first stage of bpsc examination. If you qualify bpsc pre exam then only you will be eligible to apply for mains exam. The nature of pre exam is objective as well as comprehensive. If you observe minutely previous years question paper of bpsc pre exam, then you reach to the conclusion that most of the questions being asked on facts. Comprehensive study is to be done for pre exam. You must complete bpsc syllabus with the help of NCERT books and other reference books. In my opinion preparation of notes for the purpose of Pre exam is not required. However, when you study any topic in the book just underline important points.

You can also highlight important dates, names and other relevant facts. Once you underline and highlight important facts in the book, then the book itself will work like your notes. Writing every facts in the notebook from the book for the purpose of preparation of notes for Pre exam is mere wastage of time. Whenever you want to revise any particular topic, then just open that book and focus on underlined and highlighted facts. That process will help you to save time and quick revision. During course of my preparation for bpsc exam, i never prepared notes especially for bpsc pre exam. I used to underline and highlight important articles in the books for the purpose of quick revision.

3.2 PREPARATION OF NOTES FOR BPSC MAINS EXAM

Bpsc mains exam is second stage of selection process. A candidate is supposed to prepare 5 paper of subjective nature. Out of 5 papers , 3 papers viz; GS1, GS2 and Essay are decisive for mains result. Opposite of bpsc pre exam, the nature of bpsc mains exam is subjective as well as selective. Here i would like to explain the word selective for better understanding. Your qualification in pre exam confirm the facts that you have completed the bpsc syllabus with basic understanding. Completion of bpsc syllabus is comprehensive task. If you observe the bpsc mains syllabus, then it is evident that mains syllabus is selective in nature. Now in mains examination you will have to select topic based on mains syllabus and prepare those topics deeply. It is advisable to prepare notes and always try to enrich those notes. In my opinion preparation of notes is must for bpsc mains exam. First you should prepare a set of good notes on all the topics and then you should revise the same again and again.

You must prepare notes for bpsc mains general studies. Considering very vast area of essay topics, it is not advisable to prepare notes for Essay. However, you must prepare draft notes in your notebook pertaining to some important topics of essay writing. It is also pertinent to mention that the optional paper in BPSC Exam is now (wef 68th BPSC Exam) objective as well as qualifying in nature. Hence, notes of optional subject need not to be prepared. Plz note that the notes of GS Paper-1 & Paper-2 must be strictly as per syllabus mentioned by bpsc.
