2. POSITIVE ASPECTS OF PREPARATION WHILE IN JOB
In this paragraph i will discuss with you some benefits of preparing while in job. These positive aspects must encourage and revitalize your preparation.
2.1 FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE
Job gives you financial independence making your preparation, tension free money wise. Most of the civil services aspirants are coming from very humble background and money may be a concern for them. If you are earning per month then you won't have to think much before buying coaching materials, books and magazines.
2.2 BACK UP OPTION
Job gives you back up option making your preparation stress free in terms of career. Your focus remain only on preparation of BPSC exam. It is highly demotivating if you could not clear BPSC exam in three chances being out of job. But being in job gives you motivation and power to move forward with another attempt.
2.3 MONOTONOUS ACTIVITY
If you are in job then you meet many people outside your bpsc preparation universe thus making your preparation effort less monotonous. You will be having less time for preparation forcing you to utilize that time with full enthusiasm.
2.4 LUCK FACTOR
BPSC exam does have an element of luck. If you could not qualify the exam in two sincere attempts, then you won't have enough study material to study full time. In that case it is useful to be in job and keep attempting in next chances.
3. NEGATIVE ASPECTS OF PREPARATION WHILE IN JOB
In this paragraph i am going to discuss with you negative aspects of preparation while in job. These drawbacks can be enumerated below.
3.1 LACK OF TIME
It is hectic and frustrating to manage time for studies while in job. If you are in full time job then you won't be able to manage an average of 6 hours study time per day. It is also important to mention that Workload in office will further curtail availability of study hours.
3.2 DIFFICULT TO FOCUS ON PREPARATION
It is very difficult to priorities in between your job and your study. This will directly affect your preparation. Sometimes it will be difficult for you to manage even a single study hour in some particular week. This will bring discontinuity in your preparation efforts.
3.3 COACHING AND STUDY ENVIRONMENT
Your job may be in such a location where coaching and study materials are unavailable for BPSC exam. In that case it will be very tough for you to manage class and test series. Study environment also play vital role in your preparation. In absence of study environment you won't be able to meet with other aspirants for group discussions and also you will be deprived of latest trend in respect of exam.
4. TIME MANAGEMENT
If you are in full time job then it means you are busy in job at least for 8 hours per day except on weekends. In my opinion one year is sufficient if you study regularly for 6 hours per day on average. If you are even in class 'C' job then also it is fair enough to believe that you have good basic knowledge of subjects. You must plan effectively for 2 years and work upon that to crack the exam. You should also prepare weekly target of study hours and that should be 50 hours per week. Let's understand this with an appropriate example. Suppose you have 5 days working schedule from Monday to Friday (weekdays). In this case you should manage 5 hours of study everyday making total weekdays study hours 25.
Now if you have holiday on Saturday and on Sunday (weekends) then on weekends you must study 12 hours per day, making your total weekends study hours 24. Now if you add weekdays and weekends study hours, then it will be close to weekly 50 hours target. You must also sleep early at night and wake up early in morning. Sleep by 11 PM and leave your bed in the morning by 5 AM. After leaving your bed at 5 AM, get yourself fresh by 6 AM and study 2 hours from 6 AM to 8 AM. After that you may get ready for your office and reach there by 9 AM. If you come back from office at 6 PM then take some rest and start your evening study at 7 PM and continue upto 10 PM. After that you can finish your dinner and move to bed for sound sleep. If you are working in some shift duties then prepare your study plan accordingly.
5. LEAVE MANAGEMENT
It is advisable not to waste your leave for petty things. Just keep your leave available for exam. You should take 10 days of leave just before Pre exam of BPSC. Utilize that 10 days for thorough revision of syllabus. If you qualify your pre exam then utilize your balance leave for Mains exam. You must take 30 days of leave just before mains exam and put in all your efforts in that leave period.
6. COACHING AND TEST SERIES
You can read my blog "ROLE OF COACHING FOR BPSC EXAM". I have explained in details each and every aspects of coaching requirement for BPSC exam. Here i will describe the same in brief.
6.1 COACHING FOR GENERAL STUDIES
Although coaching for general study is not essential. If still you wish to take coaching and relevant coaching is not available at your work place, then you must try it on online platform.
6.2 COACHING FOR OPTIONAL
If essential, go for it on online platform.
6.3 TEST SERIES FOR PRE EXAM
Paid test series for Pre exam is not required. Just download 2-3 free test papers from some online source and solve the same before pre exam.
6.4 TEST SERIES FOR MAINS EXAM
You must join test series for mains exam. Just utilize your 30 days leave which you will avail before mains exam, to write test series.
7. PREPARING CURRENT AFFAIRS
It is advised not to waste too much time reading newspaper. Just be in touch with newspaper (Refer only 30 min for reference). Prepare current affairs from monthly magazine and read that magazine thoroughly. Revise that magazine again and again.
You should keep your morals high all the time. Please don't get frustrated because of responsibility of job and preparation of exam altogether. You must play double role in your life. Just behave as an employee in office and as an aspirant outside office. You must also alter your social life to some extent because of lack of time. Cut off from social media like Facebook and WhatsApp. It is also advisable not to exhaust your body and your mind. Just relax your body in case of high pressure from work side. Take proper sleep and take care of your health.
9. NEVER GIVE UP ATTITUDE
When you think of leaving your preparation, then ask questions to yourself as why you started and what would you do after office hour. You will realize that preparation is better than wasting time on social media like on WhatsApp and on Facebook. Just be focussed and Keep yourself motivated. Try to make your life each day better and trust me your goal will take care of itself.
